In Which I go to College and Mature...

A child leaves home for college and suddenly they are no longer a child but have blossomed into a adult. Well maybe not always...
Yes college does mature a teenager, but it also gives them freedom to do things that weren't allowed under their parent's supervision.

Take for instance one Sunday night. A few of us were gathered around the table nourishing ourselves on leftovers. A bowl of finger jello accompanied the meal. Before my very horrified eyes I watched as one of the boys proceeded to slurp the whole piece of jello into his month. He wasn't finished though, he slide the Jiggular right back out! Everyone was highly amused by the shocked look on my face. Surely I thought I was dreaming when of my female friends did the very same thing! Sheepishly announcing "we never got finger jello at home"!

Slurping however soon became dull, and the Olympics of food began. Yes, these college students were spitting their jello across the table with a very violent force. Head were ducking up in down to avoid being painted with gelled artificial coloring and flavor.

So the secret is out, college may mature a person but it may immature them anymore. You are probably wondering did I try? Don't ask silly questions, I would never be so unlady like under normal circumstances:)

Jump over the Moon

With the North wind blowing in colder weather I knew that I would be too chicken to continue my daily walks. I know that frozen chicken is quite popular but well I preferre to stay out of the minority. So I sought out to find an indoor exercise option. Rebounder trampolines quickly began to impress me. Ten minutes a day was all you needed to do. How simple could that be? Several of my family members already owned one and approved with a five star rating.

Sold! I was on the trampolines and Ebay had just sold me one.

Jumping was funner than I could have imagined, just maybe exercise could be this easy. I even lost 2 pounds before Christmas, just to make room for the extra five you know.

Then one day I was just dropping along, desperately trying to keep my pants on, since my belly was a bit smaller when….Snap! Two of the springs popped off.

I called the company twice. Second try after the first rep hung up on me I finally got a very knowledgeable rep. I whined that my trampoline should have not fallen apart after just six weeks of use. After all I didn’t weigh even#100. (Okay that was a very big white lie.) The dear lady kindly explained to me that the trampolines weren’t met for jumping. Excuse me? What else do you do on a trampoline, just sit on it and get your heart rate to stay at constant peaceful rhythm? Well yes I know that would mean I would be dead. The dear lady didn’t seem to want that so she offered to send out some free springs. After I paid shipping. I agreed to this compromise and kept on jumping.

Spring number three broke. I called the company again to get instructions on how not to jump on a trampoline. Surly it was a very complicated method developed by NASA. As I explained my plight to the sales rep mother giggled in the background. Thankfully he took pity on stupid people who don’t know how to use trampolines without jumping and offered to send out a free DVD. This pleased me.

Jumping on the carpet will have to do for now unless of course I jump a hole into the floor. Than I shall have to have my mommy explain to me how to walk on carpet.

Let it Snow

I couldn't have felt more pleased to see the blanket of snow that covers the countryside earlier today. Suddenly now it really feels like Christmas! I can just imagine myself standing wrapped in a fur cap singing carols with my arm being held by a gentleman in a top hat. Sigh... ahem I do love snow!

I would share with you some pictures but well I have a cold and I can't get myself to venture out. Our temperature gauge currently reads 20 degrees so it has warmed up a bit:) Perhaps I may have to make a snow angel or two though...

My brother's and I growing up enjoyed making snow ice cream. It's easy really, just take some snow and add milk and sugar. A little vanilla doesn't hurt either. Mix it together and eat fast!
One particular time, when our parents just happened to be gone:) We decided the old recipe needed a little jazzing up. Out came the Carmel syrup than the chocolate, I believe there was strawberry as well. Last of we topped it off with honey roasted nuts. Somehow I remember that the effect wasn't pleasant. I don't believe I've made snow ice cream since:)

I'm in love with the white fluffy stuff. I still feel the delight of my childhood upon seeing the flaks fall. My wonderful TX nieces and nephews experienced the same delight last week. Because as perhaps you know it never snows in Houston. Or at least not until last week.

Before I go I shall say this final thing. I dedicate this post to someone special that is always telling me to update my blog. YOU know who you are:)

I'm Sorry I Forgot....

This week I've had a bit of writer's block. Nothing seems to be coming to mind to write. Really though that's half the truth. I have been blogging in my head plenty before I go to sleep but by morning are the thoughts still there? No:)

In the morning dad usually asks how I slept. My answer is commonly, "I don't remember". So how of course should I remember the scrumptious blog post in my head? Let's see I was saying... oh well I don't remember. I'm serious:)

Maybe I should just go to bed.

This and That...

Yes I know I need to be writing more. Yes I know you have been missing me. Actually though I feel like I'm talking to myself. Actually I am. According to my blog stats nobody is reading this. Maybe that is a good thing?

Life has been busy. Babysitting an adorable 13 month old. Cleaning house, taking care of Grandma. Walking and just hanging out. I've even gotten political. Tomorrow night I'll be helping at a phone bank for the Republicans.

Today was our church's missions conference. You will be hearing more on that later.

Right now I'm watching the World Series. I even have a friend in it. Well he's my brother's friend's brother. Still with me? Unfortunately the team isn't doing so hot.
